Mr. Wilson’s class will consist of hand-on personal safety for us, our charges, in the home and in public places. Internet safety and stalking will also be discussed. Participants may also have the opportunity to be outside learning about car safety with a possible demo vehicle. A full session of Q & A will also be offered, allowing attendees to ask specific questions and seek safety advice. Participants of this workshop will also receive a certificate directly from Mr. Wilson, for participating in this series of workshops.

Dr. Markan is a psychologist and local television personality in Phoenix and hosts the informative Real Time Mom segments. For 15 years Dr. Markan has listened closely to Moms express their challenges, interests and needs. Moms want to be educated, empowered and inspired. Moms want information that helps them parent better, feel energized and live more fully. They want to be respected for the important roles they play in society. Mothers know they are the largest consumer segment in the world. They possess billions of dollars of spending power. They are eager to be heard. Real Time Moms news segments speak to the needs of Moms by providing them with actionable tips and encouragement to enjoy their lives with vitality. “Contract Negotiation:  The do's and don'ts of negotiating a nanny-family work agreement”
Participants will cover the topic of how to negotiate your contract, from the first phone call to the signing. We will cover how to discuss things during the interview and negotiation process to ensure that the nanny has the best chance possible to get all the terms and benefits they want covered in their contract, and how to determine what their negotiable vs. non-negotiable are. Also covered will be what exactly should be in every long-term nanny contract.

Presenter: Tonya Sakowicz
Tonya started her nanny career while attending college at Central Washington University where she majored in Anthropology and took extensive coursework in ECE and Child Development and Learning. She accepted her first full-time nanny job immediately after college. In the last 18 years, she has worked full-time in 6 different nanny positions as well as numerous jobs as a baby nurse/night nanny doing sleep training for multiples. Over the years, she has specialized in working with twins and triplets and still does on occasion for families with sleep issues or reflux. In 2003, she was voted the Professional Childcare Provider of the Year, and in 2004, she was nominated for both the INA NOTY and the NAN Harriette Grant Memorial Award. Tonya co-founded both the Northwest Nanny Association in Seattle and the Valley Professional Nanny Network in Phoenix . Currently she is a SAHM to her 6 1/2 month old son and works as a nanny trainer, teaching classes on Nanny Professionalism, Baby Nursing, Nannying for Multiples, Preemie Care, Interviewing and Contract Negotiation. She is a past board member for NAN and has served with INA on committees and as a Nanny Mentor . She has presented at both NAN and INA conferences in the past either as a speaker or roundtable coordinator.
