2014 INA Annual Conference FAQ

The following questions and answers can help you prepare for your conference experience.

Question: I’m not sure if I will be able to attend. Should I wait to make my reservation?
Answer: No, do not wait. Please make your hotel reservation now. Hotel rooms are limited and if you wait, rooms or the special group rate may no longer be available.

Question: Which airport should I fly into?
Answer:  Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel is located at 5711 W. Century Blvd., approximately 1/4 mile from the airport.  They offer a complimentary hotel Shuttle (the shuttle is light blue and is labeled HILTON-LAX), which runs every 15 minutes. The Hilton Los Angeles Airport is also offering discounted parking of $10.00 per day for self-park or $20.00 per day for valet, for those renting a car.

Question: What time does conference start?
Answer: Registration is open Thursday at 12:00 P.M. While there are specialty pre-conference workshops being offered Thursday afternoon ($$), conference officially kicks off with the welcome reception at 6:30 P.M. Thursday evening.

Question: Can I come early, stay longer or bring a guest with me?
Answer: Yes. The hotel is extending the special group rates to INA Conference attendees Wednesday, March 26 to Sunday, March 30, if rooms are available. You may bring family or friends. However, if they are going to participate in conference events, a registration fee or meal ticket will need to be purchased during the registration process.

Question: Can family or friends attend conference meal functions or events?
Answer: Yes. You may purchase guest tickets for conference events and meals during the registration process.

Question: What are the caucuses?
Answer: Caucuses are special meetings of the INA membership broken into individual member and business member sessions. These meetings are designed to give members an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and discuss topics that are relevant to their category of membership. For this reason, only those holding individual membership may attend the individual member caucus and only those holding standard and supporting memberships may attend the business member caucus. The business member caucus includes agency owners and staff members, educators, industry service providers and all other members who hold standard and supporting memberships.

Question: Can I attend any workshop?
Answer: Conference attendees are welcome to attend any workshop sessions they would like, with the exception of the individual and business member caucuses. The workshops are separated into nanny, newborn care, and agency tracks so attendees can easily identify which audience the workshop is geared toward.  Pre-conference workshops held on Thursday require an additional fee, and must be registered for prior to conference.

Question: Do I have to attend every session?
Answer: No conference sessions are mandatory, however we encourage you to attend the full conference to get the most bang for your buck. Our conference team has worked hard to select workshops and speakers that can help you increase your skills and marketability.

Question: What does my registration include?
Answer: Your conference registration fee includes admittance to all conference workshops, networking breaks, continental breakfast, and lunch on Friday and Saturday, as well as the welcome and closing receptions.

Question: Is there a dress code?
Answer: Business casual attire is appropriate. We discourage: shorts, T-shirts, flip-flops and the like. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the same manner as they would for a nanny job interview, a business meeting or a networking event.

Question: How do I find a roommate?
Answer: Please contact the INA Member Services Office at 888.878.1477 or by emailingadmin@nanny.org if you would like to get in contact with other individuals who are interested in sharing a hotel room.

Question: Can I request a special meal?
Answer: Yes. If you have special dietary requirements or food allergies, you must submit your requirements in writing to the INA Membership Services Office prior to March 1, 2014. Requirements can be emailed to admin@nanny.org. INA and the hotel will work closely with you to provide you with appropriate meals. Please note that during some meals and breaks, food is served buffet style. If you have an allergy or intolerance to specific foods, please use caution when selecting items from the buffet as they have been prepared for the general attendees and may not be suitable for your diet.
